Give Kids the World Days 3-4

I apologize for the lack of live-blogging; it's been busy!  Day 3 was Thursday which meant Christmas at Give Kids the World village! Kids could decorate cookies, decorate paper snowflakes with glitter, and visit Santa and pick out a present among other things! There was even a Christmas parade complete with princesses, fairies, penguins and the Mayor of the village with his wife (they're rabbits) dressed up for the occasion.  The parade ended where kids were decorating cookies and snowflakes, and the characters scattered around to dance with all the kids.

I was helping decorate snowflakes, so I got to see the whole thing happen. I think maybe my favorite moment was seeing the little girls' faces light up as the princesses got down on their level and talked to them.

This is the amazing part about Give Kids the World: there is so much to do! Every night there is a party with crafts and food and dancing. The carousel runs all day until 9pm, there is ice cream available from 7:30am - 9:30pm, not to mention the pool, park, arcade, fishing pond and mini golf. This place is all about the kids. The volunteer staff makes sure that each child is having a good time no matter what they're doing.

On day 4 I helped run the carousel, but the main attraction that evening was first the tea party and then the Pirates and Princesses party. It was so fun to see all the girls dressed in tutus ready to go.  When the kids walked back through and rode the carousel after the party they were all covered in pirate hats, tattoos, tiaras, face paint, etc.  There were a couple little boys and their mother who had just arrived at the village, and they had to have rode the carousel 5 times at least.  You can tell they were excited to be there, and I told them what a great week they had ahead of them.
