Community, Cement, and Car Wrecks

Memphis, Tennessee: And it's Wednesday. A new day, a new site, a new adventure. Today, we went to a site with a local college-ran garden and the gardener, Chelsea. We were tasked with putting up the foundation for a fence, pulling weeds, and working together on this brand new garden for us. We first met with Chelsea and Tamika, a local whom lived at the house next door. We began another day's work. This was the first time that a whole bunch of locals came to help us out. We cemented fence posts in and pulled weeds with locals. Monica, my dear site leader, threw a worm at me, entertaining perhaps. Fun for me no. Not funny. I hope Eliza is doing well, possessing you that is. I will never trust you again.
Moving along, working with a community was much better than just working within our group. Reaching out to the community is vital for such an organization. Next, we got in a car accident. Yeah, we did. Some car stopped to quickly, causing a chain reaction. We hit some unexpected man who hit another unexpected lady. Well, through it all, we met a really nice "progressive"cop. An interesting yet helpful man with a unique need to be in pictures. The greenhouse revisit was debunked and our picnic at the park was not going to happen. Eating on the corner of a gas station. Weeeee! After that, the day kind of fell a part. But we got a bunch of pictures of that. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better. We're visiting yet another site, and we are having a lot fun thus far working with communities that are growing from our direct work. Community work has been my favorite so far; I hope we get to do that again. Anyway, tomorrow's another day, right? And onward.
